Why this grade

VS Code ships a first-party MCP client since 1.99 and can also expose editor context as a server. Backed by Microsoft with a fast release cadence. Auth is delegated to each configured server, so hardening is a per-server exercise — the client itself does not add transport encryption for stdio servers.
